A LEADING pianist is returning from a tour of the USA to play at Sir William Turner's Almshouses at Kirkleatham this week.

Gülsin Onay, the principal pianist with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkey, toured New York, Boston, Washington and Houston only ten days ago.

And her visit to the North-East takes her to only two venues, one on Tyneside and the other at the Almshouses.

Concert organiser Peter Sotheran said: "We are privileged and honoured that a pianist of such high ranking international status is willing to bring her music to East Cleveland.”

The programme includes music by Beethoven, Liszt, Saygun and a Chopin Sonata.

The concert takes place at Sir William Turner's Almshouses, Kirkleatham on Thursday, May 9 at 7.30 pm. Tickets cost £12.50 from 01642-477200 with a credit card or from Greensleeves (CORR) music shop in Guisborough.

Alternatively, leave a message at any time on 01642-482828 to reserve tickets to collect on the night.
