POLICE and firefighters have launched a joint investigation into the cause of a major garage fire.
The garage, at Boathouse Lane, Stockton, was well alight at about 3.10am this morning, Monday, May 6, when Cleveland Fire Brigade were called.
The garage was disused, but it was full of various abandoned equipment and rubbish. No-one was hurt. Six fire engines and the hydraulic platform were used.
CRAFT STALLS: An indoor craft and table top sale will be held at Guisborough Church Parish Hall on Saturday, May 11 from 10am to 3pm and refreshments will be available.
RUMPELSTILTSKIN: The classic children’s fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin will be performed at Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre on Sunday, May 12 in a blend of puppetry, live music and physical storytelling. The story, suitable for five to eight-year-olds, follows the original Brothers Grimm plot about a troubled miller’s daughter trying to outwit Rumpelstiltskin. Performances are at 1.30pm and 3.30pm and tickets cost £4 for adults and £3 for children. Call 01429 890000.
RIDING DEMONSTRATION: A horse riding demonstration will be held at the Riding for the Disabled Association’s Unicorn Centre, in Hemlington, Middlesbrough, tomorrow, Tuesday, May 7. James Hunton, a well-known show rider with the Stanley Grange Show Team, will lead the demonstration which starts at 7pm. Tickets cost £3.50 for adults and £2 for concessions. Call 01642 576222.
GIPSY SITES: People in Hartlepool are being urged to give their views on several sites in the town as potential locations for gypsy and traveller pitches. The consultation is being held by Hartlepool council after a Government inspector paused his examination of the council’s planning blueprint for the next 15 years and asked the authority to find an appropriate gipsy site.
