THE achievements of students in a town’s secondary schools will take centre stage at a special event tomorrow (Tuesday 26).
Celebrating Success 2013 takes place at Middlesbrough Town Hall in recognition of the hard work and effort of young people across the town.
The awards, organised by Middlesbrough Secondary Education in Partnership, will shine a spotlight on the successes of young people over the last year.
The event will be attended by all of the town’s schools and academies: Prince Bishop, Priory Woods, King’s Academy, Beverley, Trinity Catholic College, Acklam Grange, Unity City Academy, Oakfields and Macmillan Academy.
Councillor Brenda Thompson, Middlesbrough Council’s executive member for children’s services, said: “It’s important to recognise those who have gone the extra mile, both in terms of academic achievement and in helping those around them and the wider community.
“Celebrating Success is a great opportunity to recognise those achievements, and I’m sure a great evening will be had by all.”
A feast of entertainment is also lined up, including a guest appearance by local band Monday’s Company who feature three former King’s Academy students and have just signed a record label.
