AN MP is calling on a council to work closely with residents and the business community before making changes to parking restrictions in a seaside town.
Tom Blenkinsop, MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, has written to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council as it launches a consultation process to implement residents’ parking zones and pay-and-display areas in Saltburn.
He said: “Many local residents and local shopkeepers have been in touch with me to express their concern about the Council’s proposed changes to parking restrictions in Saltburn.
“This is understandable, when the local economy is fragile, margins are tight and when there is a risk that these proposals could adversely affect trade.”
As well as at the public consultation sessions, comments can be made by e-mail via engineering@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk or in writing to Area Management Department, Belmont House, Rectory Lane, Guisborough, TS14 7FD.
For further information about the proposals, telephone 01287-612581.
