PATIENTS are being asked for their views on plans to refurbish two medical practices in Stockton.

Queens Park Medical Centre and Tennant Street Medical Practice situated on Farrer Street, Stockton have been described as over-crowded.

The idea is to refurbish and extend the centres. The will be drop-in sessions on Tuesday, December 11 from 6pm to 7.30pm at the Tennant Street Medical Practice and on Thursday, December 13 between noon and 2pm at the Queens Park Medical Centre.


SHOP FIRE: A shop was burnt out in a fire in the early hours of this morning. Sunday, December 9. The building on York Road, Hartlepool was 60 per cent damaged by fire and heat and 40 per cent damaged by smoke. Cleveland Fire Brigade were called at 3.30am and fought the fire until 5am, using three pump appliances, eight breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera. It’s not thought any person was in the shop but no further details were available last night.


UNUSUAL CALENDAR: Fundraisers at a centre for adults with learning disabilities have created an unusual calendar. Staff and volunteers at Hartlepool Borough Council’s Warren Road Day Centre are pictured in the Sunflower Secrets 2013 calendar doing some very ordinary tasks in some very unusual places around the town, including ironing in a field of cows and using a sewing machine on the pitch at Hartlepool United’s Victoria Park. The calendar costs £6.50 and is available by calling 01429-264661.


CHOIR NIGHT: Pupils from Yarm School played with a world-renowned choir at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium in London. A total of 18 pupils from the school were put through their vocal paces by the gospel choir’s co-ordinator, Travis Cole and performed in front of a packed audience.


BADMINTON BOOST: The development of badminton in Hartlepool has received a boost. Hartlepool Sixth Form College has been recognised as a Premier FE College, one of only 12 in the country, by Badminton England, the sport’s national governing body. The college received the recognition due to the success of its Badminton and Racquets Academy.
