EDUCATIONALISTS at Saltholme bird sanctuary have won a national award.
The team behind the Lifelong Learning project at the RSPB centre, near Billingham, won the UK’s Best Education Project at The National Lottery Awards Show in London yesterday. Saturday.
The project was featured on a BBC TV show hosted by actor John Barrowman and beat hundreds of others from across the country.
A total of £268,000 of lottery funding has been used to run activities for people of all ages to help them enjoy and appreciate wildlife at Saltholme.
Caroline Found, lifelong learning manager at Saltholme, accepted the award. She said: “It is an absolute honour to win this award and a real boost for everyone involved to receive national recognition for their hard work and dedication.”
