THE FIRST poppy on Middlesbrough’s Field of Remembrance will be laid by the town’s mayor.
Ray Mallon will lay the poppy at the Cenotaph on Linthorpe Road at 10.45am on Thursday November 8. He will then join the Civic Party at the Town Hall to turn a page in each of the Books of Remembrance to honour the men and women from Middlesbrough who lost their lives in the two World Wars and in other conflicts around the globe.
Details of the arrangements for a Remembrance Sunday service have also been announced and are as follows:
10.00am Official Party assembles at The Legion Inn
10.30am Parade forms up
10.40am Parade leaves The Legion Inn for the Cenotaph
11.30am Service ends; Official Party makes its way to the Saluting Base
11.36am March Past
The Parade will proceed from the Cenotaph to Park Road South via Linthorpe Road before dispersing in Park Road North.
