FOUNDRY CELEBRATIONS: Middlesbrough's last remaining foundry celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the William Lane Foundry has cast a commemorative plaque which will be unveiled at a ceremony attended by elected Mayor Ray Mallon on Monday (October 29). Founded in 1862 by the Lane family, the foundry relocated to Middlesbrough’s Riverside Park Industrial Estate in 1907.
