POLICE are appealing for information after arsonists targeted the home of a Teesside couple.
The pair had to flee a property on Lansdowne Road in Hartlepool when the offenders struck on Saturday, October 20.
They were woken by fire alarms at around 3am and went downstairs to discover the front door of the house was alight.
The blaze was extinguished by Cleveland Fire Brigade and there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
Police say the fire was deliberate and are treating the incident as arson with intent to endanger life.
Detectives are now appealing for members of the public to come forward who believe they may have seen anything of interest around the time of the fire.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Dave Walker on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
