THEY may not be able to walk or talk yet, but babies at a Stockton day nursery are proving yoga is child’s play.

New baby yoga classes are being offered at Little Ladybirds Day Nursery, on the Preston Farm Industrial Estate.

The ‘wrigglers’ classes, which are held every Thursday afternoon and open to everyone, are run by Baby Beginnings North East, a company that offers of pregnancy and baby classes across the region.

Aimed at babies who are aged from four to five months plus, the yoga classes are designed to help with flexibility, coordination, social skills and interaction and bonding.

Tracy Addison, who runs the classes at Little Ladybirds, said: “Doing baby yoga has many excellent benefits, including helping with muscle development and flexibility and generally just promoting relaxation.

“What makes this class different is it is inspired by traditional baby yoga routines and movements but with the addition of an array of unique sensory based exercises and activities.”

Jayne Neal, mother of five-month-old Violet, said: “I did yoga when I was pregnant with Violet and now we do it together I find it to be nice and calming for us both.”

The classes are open to parents of children at the nursery as well as those from outside.

They cost £25 for six sessions and must be booked in advance by calling Tracy on 07584 082630 or emailing tracy@baby-beginnings-northeast.co.uk
