POLICE have made arrests after investigating what was believed to be a focused criminal campaign on North Yorkshire’s horseracing industry.

North Yorkshire Police recently issued a warning to racehorse trainers and others working in the business to review the security of their homes and businesses.

They were concerned a co-ordinated campaign to prey on the county’s industry was being orchestrated.

A local man was arrested in connection with the investigation last week and now two more arrests have been made. The two men are both believed to be local to North Yorkshire.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Officers have arrested two more local men in connection with an investigation which is believed to have interrupted their intention to steal or rob.

“We ask people to remain vigilant, take sensible precautions and to report any suspicious activity to the local police.

“Officers are undertaking extra patrols in areas used by the horse racing industry as reassurance to the local communities.”

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about suspicious activity should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Always dial 999 in an emergency.
