DRIVERS are being warned that essential repairs to a rural road badly damaged in last month’s floods may take around two months to complete.
Part of the C92 between Linton-on-Ouse and Newton-on-Ouse collapsed when the River Ouse burst its banks and poured into a culvert, taking some of the road with it.
A repair team from North Yorkshire County Council has now begun to correct the problem and is aiming to complete the work before Christmas.
“The flood caused very extensive damage to this road, and the repair is a major operation,” said the county’s executive member for highways, Gareth Dadd.
“We have made the site safe and taken preventative measures to ensure that there is no further collapse of the road."
A signed diversion route is in place using the C100 Tollerton road.
