THERE will be no road access to Levisham Station for four weeks from Monday, October 15 for essential road maintenance.

North Yorkshire County Council Highways Agency will be improving access to the station, and working with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway it aims to keep disruption to Levisham residents to a minimum.

General manager Philip Benham said: “Due to planned road works at Levisham for a four week period from Monday, October 15, we have offered local residents a pass to enable free travel on all operating dates to all locations along the line and we are supporting the Staff and Volunteers on the railway throughout the process.”

A daily service between Pickering, Levisham, Goathland, Grosmont and Whitby will be running up until Sunday, November 4.

Fares are £22.50 for adults, £19.50 for seniors and £11.30 for children for a day rover ticket allowing unlimited travel between Pickering and Whitby.

A family ticket for two adults and up to four children is available for £45.00. Children under five ride free.

The new winter timetable runs from Saturday, November 10.
