PUPILS at an independent school are saddling up for a special Christmas production.
Seven to nine-year-olds at Queen Mary’s School, in Topcliffe, near Thirsk, are presenting Roald Dahl’s version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, where the dwarfs appear as retired jockeys who have lost all their money by gambling.
The script comes from Dahl’s "Revolting Rhymes".
Snow White comes up with a clever twist on the usual "Mirror, Mirror" question to help the dwarfs beat the bookies.
The production takes place on Wednesday, December 14, and is being directed by the school’s assistant director of music, Anthea Shepherdson, who said: "This is a really fun version of a traditional tale. Even though the girls are relatively young, they have all tackled this with great enthusiasm. There is some really super singing and acting going on - none of our girls seem to be shy!”
