A WALLED garden which provides horticultural training for adults with learning disabilities has opened a shop to sell its produce.

The store will open seven days a week at the Palace Road site, in Ripon, and will offer employment to people with disabilities.

Launching the shop, which is selling a range of its festive produce, Ripon Mayor Councillor Mick Stanley said the Walled Garden project was inspirational.

He said: “I had no idea that the shop would have so much on offer, particularly at this time of year, and I wish them luck over this Christmas season."

Chris Searle, manager of the charity project, thanked Ripon-based firm Wolseley for its £500 donation which funded the electric work in the timber-framed shop.
