THREE community choirs are to join together for the first time to perform a special Christmas concert in aid of charity.
The choirs, which between them have more than 100 members, were each formed this year by music teacher and choral director Carol Gedye, and will perform at The Station, in Richmond, at 11am on Saturday, December 17.
The 45 minute concert has been given the title The Station Singers and will feature popular Christmas carols and songs, with refreshments available for guests. Entry is free but donations will be taken to raise funds for the choirs and a local charity.
The three choirs are separated into different types of musical ability under the names Platform One, Platform Two and The Branch Line.
Mrs Gedye said: “Community choirs are proving to be immensely popular and the Station Singers are no exception. I have been both amazed and humbled to see so many keen and talented singers coming forward and am very excited about hearing them all in The Big Sing.
“We want everyone to come along and enjoy the spectacle.”
The Platform One choir meets every Wednesday at The Station, between 10am and 11.30am, and is aimed at people who like to sing, while the Platform Two choir, for people who can read music, meets between 11.45am and 1.15pm.
The Branch Line choir is for people of all abilities and meets at Richmond Town Hall, every Thursday evening between 8pm and 9.30pm.
Anyone interested in joining a choir can find more information on the community page at www.thestation.co.uk
