POLICE have renewed their appeal for witnesses after a moped that was stolen at the weekend was found burnout in nearby woods.
The vehicle was taken from the rear of a property on Bedford Close, in Catterick Garrison, between 4pm on Friday and 12.30pm on Saturday and has since been found burnt out in the woods near Hipswell Road West.
Officers are appealing to anyone who has seen any suspious activity in the area over the last few days to get in touch.
PC Nicola Pattinson, of Catterick police, said: "This amounts to act an of mindless vandalism, which has left the victim £500 out of pocket and without any transport to get her to work.
"The area where the moped was found is a popular spot for dog walkers, therefore I would appeal to anyone who has seen anything unusual in the vicinity of the woods since the weekend to get in touch with the police.
"The spot where the moped was found is also near to Essex Close, so I am appealing to residents to rack their brains and let us know if they have seen or heard anything suspicous."
