POLICE have turned to the public for help in piecing together the cause of a road smash in which a motorcyclist was injured.
The smash happened just after 2pm on at crossroads on Stark Bank Road near Ellingstring in the Ripon area when two motorcyclists, who were part of a larger group, collided.
At the time of the collision the motorcycles were travelling in single file, heading towards Jervaulx, when they were passed by a grey old style Land Rover, travelling in the opposite direction.
The rider of the motorcycle was taken to Harrogate District Hospital by air ambulance with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
Traffic Constable Tony Leonard said: “I am appealing for the driver of the Land Rover to come forward as I believe he may have vital information about the collision. I urge the man, or anybody that can identify him, to contact the police as soon as possible.”
