STUDENT council members are to meet district councillors to gain an insight into local democracy.
Pupils at Ryedale School, in Nawton near Helmsley, elected 40 student members to its school council last month.
As part of Local Democracy Week, Ryedale District Councillors will go into the school on October 14 to talk about the work of the authority and the role councillors play.
Councillors from Ryedale district will also be speaking to students studying Government and Politics at Malton School and Lady Lumley’s School in Pickering during Local Democracy Week, which runs from October 10 until October 16.
The week has been organised by the Local Government Association and aims to raise awareness about local authorities, how they work and the responsibilities they have.
