POLICE investigating a hit and run collision on the A1 have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened at 9.50pm on Thursday, September 8, when a light coloured Vauxhall Tigra was hit by a red articulated vehicle pulling a blue trailer while travelling south on the A1 between the Catterick North Interchange and Marne Barracks, in North Yorkshire.

The Tigra spun across the carriageway before coming to a stop after hitting trees on the nearside verge. The other vehicle did not stop at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 25-year-old woman from the Richmond area, was treated at the scene by paramedics for a minor head injury.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them with information.

Traffic Constable Tony Leonard, of Richmond roads policing group, said: “Fortunately the driver of the Vauxhall Tigra only suffered a minor injury in the collision but she was left understandably shaken by the experience.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward and tell us what they saw.

“I would also appeal to the driver of the articulated vehicle to do the right thing and contact the police so we can complete our investigations into the collision.”

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact TC Leonard on 0845-60-60-247.
