KNITTERS are being urged to get their needles clicking to help make life better for the elderly this winter.
Age Concern North Yorkshire has thrown its weight behind the Big Knit 2011 and wants people to get creative and start making little woolly hats.
The hats will sit on Innocent smoothie bottles in Boots stores for two weeks in November - and for each one sold cash will go Age UK's Spread the Warmth campaign, helping to fund national and local winter projects.
Age Concern North Yorkshire has been tasked with knitting 500 hats by October 30 and needs the help of people of all ages to help make it a reality.
Knitters can contact Age Concern North Yorkshire to get a simple hat pattern and, for those who don't want to make a hat themselves, wool and needles can be sent to 33 High Street ,Northallerton, to help others reach their target.
For more information on the Big Knit contact Age Concern North Yorkshire on 01609-771624.
