AN ADDICT rehabilitation centre under construction has received a £1m donation from an anonymous family trust.
The generous donation to the Horison Life training centre in Killinghall near Harrogate, North Yorkshire, will help with the cost of building the £1.95m centre.
More than 1,000 other donations have been made previously, but none for such a large amount.
The centre, based on an existing farm, will be the fourth to be run by the charity, Horizon Life, and will provide training in agriculture, joinery, welding, bricklaying, IT and catering for former drug and alcohol abusers.
Construction started on the project before all the funds were found.
Martin Minshull, a former addict who is working on the construction of the site said the opportunity had changed his life.
“Now I know how to set a goal and achieve it. I’m looking forward to learning new skills, enjoying a new career and enjoying a real life.”
