NEW volunteers are being sought to help bring about the next phase of a £250,000 play area.
The project to build a recreation area for children and young people was the idea of a group of parents who joined together under the banner of Stokesley Park Area Action Group (SPAAG). They wanted to build something in the town to discourage anti-social behaviour and combat boredom amongst young people.
The project got off to a flying start with the completion of the skate park section of the development last month.
The £70,000 wheelbowl complex at North Road park was opened at a ceremony where local children from the Fireplace drop-in cut the ribbon and skateboard and BMX workshops were staged.
Tanja Braun, from SPAAG, said the next step was raising money for the refurbishment of the junior playground and they hoped to upgrade the football pitch this summer.
She said: "I would like to thank all helpers and volunteers that have contributed to the Stokesley Play Park Project over the past three years.
"Now we really hope to find a new generation of enthusiastic parents and volunteers to take this project forward."
