PLANS for a tourism advisory board for the eastern area of North Yorkshire have taken a step forward.
Ryedale District Council last week hosted a meeting of tourism-driven businesses, including accommodation providers and tourist attractions.
The council said the meeting was an important step in developing how tourism services are defined and delivered in the future.
Councillor Janet Franks said: "My hope is that the new tourist advisory board will provide a co-ordinated approach, which will benefit all stake holders, as so many jobs are directly or indirectly linked to tourism.
"The success of this board is vital to our economy here in Ryedale’’.
The board is looking for an independent chairman or chairwoman, who can give their time to this important role.
Organisers anticipate no more than three meetings per year of the board.
