A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl is preparing to share the spotlight with royalty at the region’s biggest agricultural show next month.
Celia Kottler will present Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall with a buttonhole and a posy of white roses, when they are guests at the Great Yorkshire Show, on Wednesday, July 13.
The youngster, who is the grand-daughter of show director Bill Cowling, is already practising hard for the occasion.
After being welcomed to the event and meeting Celia, the royal couple will tour the showground, in Harrogate, escorted by Mr Cowling.
He said: "It will be a very important day for us all, but particularly for Celia. We all want everything to go perfectly, and I’m sure it will."
Celia has never missed a Great Yorkshire Show.
Her mother, Ann, said: "She is very much an outdoor girl and has grown up with the show as the family has shown cattle there and my father was chief cattle steward before becoming the show director.
"Celia’s very excited about the day, but takes everything in her stride.
"She does have ballet lessons and has learnt to curtsey, but it’s obviously taken on a whole new importance, and lots of practising is under way."
The show runs from July 12 to 14, with more than 130,000 visitors expected to come through the gates.
