FOUR members of a Young Farmers club are swapping their wellies for running shoes when they take on the Great North Run this September.
Catterick Young Farmers, led by Robert Wilkin, 24, of Steadfield House Farm in Dalton on Tees have already spent the last year raising money for Diabetes UK and have so far raised £1,028.
But the half marathon will be their biggest charity event and they hope to raise in excess of £1,400 from the race to help the 300,000 people in the region living with diabetes.
Rob will be joined by Amanda Wilson, 20, Harry Atkinson, 24 and Jane Thornton, 20.
It will be the first time any of them have tackled the iconic half marathon and there is a friendly rivalry between the runners.
Rob said: "I would like to complete the run in under two hours, but I know that Harry is a keen runner too so it would be great to beat him.
"However, we're still deciding as a team whether to dress up for the occasion, in which case, we'll probably run together for the camaraderie and won't take it too seriously."
The Catterick Young Farmers have previously held novelty events to raise money such as a fashion show and a "Muck Chuck" which involved selling bags of manure to gardeners.
