RYEDALE residents will have the chance to try out a new sport at an activities festival next month.
The Active Ryedale Festival will be held at Malton Community Sports Centre on Saturday, July 9, from 11am to 3pm.
Activities on offer will include dance, table tennis, climbing, disc golf, netball, football and basketball.
A junior football tournament will take place between 10am and 1pm.
Sports centre staff will also be providing taster sessions for rounders and opportunities for residents to have a go at climbing on the climbing wall situated in the sports hall.
David Chugg, Ryedale District Council’s assistant sports and play development officer, said: "It will be a fun filled day for all the family and also give local residents the chance to try the activities on offer."
DJ Mark Smith will keep the atmosphere lively and there will also be face painting and a bouncy castle to keep youngsters entertained.
The festival is free of charge and everyone is welcome to come down and enjoy what’s on offer.
Refreshments will also be available from a mobile catering facility. Further information and updates are available on the festival’s Facebook page.
