POLICE are hunting three street thugs who robbed a passer-by after threatening him knifepoint in an early morning mugging.
They demanded the man’s wallet before fleeing the scene with his bank card, leaving their 23-year-old victim unharmed but very shaken.
The incident happened at about 2.20am on June 1 on Bootham, York, near its junction with Grosvenor Terrace.
Detectives have now released CCTV images showing three men they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
One was described as white and wearing a light coloured hoodie and a green baseball cap. The other two were described as black. One was wearing a red hoodie with white writing across the front and a white baseball cap, the other was wearing a grey T-shirt and a dark coloured cap or bandana.
Officers are appealing for the men to contact them. They are also appealing for anyone who can help identify the men from the CCTV images, or any witnesses to the robbery, to come forward.
In particular, police would like to speak to a local milkman who may have been in the area at the time. It is possible that he may have seen the suspects in the area or may have witnessed the robbery.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Julie Carter at York CID on 0845 6060 247 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
