A SPECIAL school is seeking sponsors to help expand its rare breeds farm.
The farm was set up two years ago at Mowbray School, in Bedale, and boasts pigs and hens.
Staff at the school have launcheda fundraising campaign, asking parents, friends of the school and members of the public to sponsor the farm.
Sponsors will be able to sponsor the purchase of a hen or a rare breed sheep.
They can also pay for animal food or equipment.
A list of sponsors will be displayed in the school and participants will also receive a certificate of thanks.
Headteacher Jonathan Tearle said: "The farm has given all our pupils a real understanding of the importance of caring and nurturing animals and has given them a pride in what we grow and produce.
"We are looking forward to seeing our farm develop and hope, with the support of our sponsors, that this comes to fruition very soon."
The school is holding an open day on Tuesday, June 21, from 9.15am to 11.15am and from 1pm to 2.30pm.
Anyone interested in taking part is asked to call the school office, on 01677-422446.
