A MASTER blacksmith is firing up his forge for the public as part of an open studios event in North Yorkshire next month.

Matthew Dwyer will create a forged metal sculpture in the courtyard garden of Saltbox Gallery & Workshop, in Helmsley, over the weekend of June 11-12.

The metalworker runs the North Yorkshire gallery with his wife, jeweler Louise Dwyer.

As part of the North Yorkshire Open Studios event, North York Moors beekeeper Marcus Cordingley, from Scampston, near Malton, will erect a bee observatory and have products from his hives for sale.

For the Open Studios weekend, the gallery is open from 11am-4pm.

Opening hours at other times are Monday to Wednesday, 10am-3.45pm, and Thursday to Saturday, 10am-4.30pm.
