A POPULAR school fund-raising event will have a new attraction this year - in the shape of birds of prey.
The Friends of Broomfield School in Northallerton are busy putting the finishing touches to preparations for their summer fair on June 18.
Staff and parents of children at the primary school have spent months organising the fundraiser, which takes place on the school field from 11am-2pm.
And a static display of several magnificent birds from Falconry UK Bird of Prey Centre at Sion Hill Hall will thrill this year's crowds, along with dozens of stalls.
These range from face painting and a tombola to a crockery smash, miniature steam train, bouncy castle and assault course, refreshments and much more.
To help get pupils in the mood, earlier this term the school organised a poster competition.
The winning design, produced by Abigail Sykes, nine, will now be used to advertise the fete on notice boards across the district. Runners-up were Emily Hughes, ten, Ashleigh Spencer, nine, and Jamil Rahman, six.
Donations of cakes, old crockery, DVDs, videos, CDs and tombola prizes are welcomed at the school. For more details, contact Gareth Dant on 01609-760059 or 07929-869269.
