DEDICATED students have been rewarded for their efforts above and beyond their normal studies.
Northallerton College celebrated students' success at a special reward assembly recognising their commitment and performance in key areas.
They included attendance, good behaviour, effort, achievement in subjects, contribution to tutor groups, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and ultimate accolade the John Dennis award, named after the chairman of governors.
Assistant principal Lynda Phipps told the students: "Today is about celebrating what you have achieved and to recognise the award winners who have shown the essential ingredients and key elements of working hard."
The John Dennis award is presented to the boy and girl who, by their attitude, commitment and honourable conduct, have contributed most to the character and reputation of the college.
And the winners of the award were Fergus Roberts and Lucy Clarkson, who were both commended for their contribution to sport.
Fergus has competed in running and swimming for the college, including area awards.
The 16-year-old, of Northallerton, said: "I was shocked but really pleased to win. I have been involved in a lot of things but I was happy to do it as I really enjoy it."
Lucy has also been involved in sport, including athletics hockey and swimming, for the college and county teams. She has also played the flute in the college concert band.
"I was really surprised to win as there are a lot of other good students but I am very pleased," said Lucy.
Mr Dennis, who presented the award, said: "I am very proud to present this award. Their achievements have set a shining example to others in the college.”
