CHARITY RIDE: A former army medic who served in Afghanistan has raised almost £4,000 by taking part in a charity bike ride between Helmsley and Filey.
Ivan Doherty, 46, from Romanby, who is also a paramedic, took part in the ride to help raise funds for a number of charities that support the Armed Forces, including Help for Heroes.
Mr Doherty’s morther, Frances, also raised £336 for the fund by gathering donations door to door around homes and businesses in Romanby and Northallerton.
The pair would like to thank people for their help and support.
OPEN GARDEN: Clifton Castle, near Masham, will open its gardens to the public on Sunday, June 5, in aid of a number of worthy causes, including Macmillan Cancer Care.
The garden is part of the National Garden Society and features a walled garden, riverside walks and cascades and a flower meadow.
Entry to the garden, which is open between 2pm and 5pm, is £4 for adults. Children enter for free.
ANYONE FOR TENNIS? A special event to raise funds for the Holistic Cancer Care Centre at the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, will be held in Potto on June 30.
The Wimbledon Ladies Lunch will take place at the Dog and Gun pub between 11.30am and 2pm.
Tickets are £25 to include a welcome drink, lunch and a few special surprises.

VOLUNTEER THANKS: The manager of the Sue Ryder charity shop, in Finkle Street, Richmond, would like to thank all of the volunteers who work hard to raise funds for the charity.
Julie Dobson recently held a Volunteers Week at the shop to encourage people to come forward and lend a hand to raise funds for the charity, which supports people with end of life care.
In particular she would like to thank Anne Winterbottom who has volunteered at the shop for five years.

STRAWBERRY FIELDS: The Richmond Methodist Guild is to held a Strawberry Evening at Red House Farm, in Easby, near Richmond, on Thursday, June 23, at 7.30pm.
The event will raise money for the Macmillan Nurses Fund through a collection
