SPECTACULAR two-wheel action is on its way back to North Yorkshire with the return of the Ryedale Grand Prix this afternoon.
The event, part of British Cycling's Premier Calendar Road Series, is based at Duncombe Park near Helmsley and will see some of the country’s top riders in action.
Using a rolling road closure format the race and its cavalcade takes in two circuits using Hovingham as its hub with four laps of each being covered, with the race starting and finishing at Duncombe Park.
The longest single day race on the British calendar, the event has gained a reputation for action with the identity of the winner only becoming known in the closing metres of the difficult climb up through the parkland of Duncombe Park.
First held in 2005, the Ryedale Grand Prix aims to inspire people to take up the sport and in particular young riders Racing starts at Duncombe Park from 11.30am with additional supporting events being held throughout the day within the grounds.
