AN award-winning celebrity gardener will be help staff at a garden centre celebrate its redevelopment.
Diarmuid Gavin will be at Strikes Garden Centre, in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, from noon on Saturday.
Recent improvements at the centre, which opened in 2000, include a new coffee shop and restaurant, craft and clothing shop and a covered outdoor plant area.
Fresh from winning a gold prize at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Mr Gavin will spend time talking to customers and answering some of their gardening questions, before planting a commemorative tree.
After lunch, the Gardeners’ World presenter will take part in some seasonal planting demonstrations and give an insight into his influences and aspirations.
Celebrations taking place over the weekend also include live music, children’s entertainment, face painting and treasure hunts.
