THE National Trust is playing its part bin attempting to reduce summer congestion on the roads of the Yorkshire Dales.
To ease some of the pressure, the Trust is again helping to fund a shuttle bus service to key destinations including Settle and Malham.
The 890 service runs every Sunday until October 24 and on Bank Holiday Mondays, with the first bus leaving Skipton at 9.25am.
The route then takes in Malham village, Malham Tarn and Settle. A shuttle then operates between Malham and Settle every hour from 11.30am - 4.30pm.
It is hoped that the service will go a long way towards reducing the volume of traffic through the village and surrounding roads, helping to cut down on pollution in the area, as well as making the roads safer and more pleasant for walkers and cyclists.
The Trust’s property manager for the Dales, Martin Davies, said: “There are so many people that come to enjoy the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and to have as few cars as possible on the road can only be of benefit to us all."
