SOLDIERS and civilians will join forces this week, as part of an annual effort to clean up an Army base.
Litter and rubbish will be collected in Catterick Garrison, tomorrow.
The aim of the event is to improve the environment in the town centre and create a safer Coronation Park for use by the whole community, both military and civilian.
Colonel Nick Millen, commander of Catterick Garrison, said: "Rubbish around the garrison is a constant source of frustration for all of us.
"We - the local community both military and civilian - need to take responsibility for where we live.
"This is an opportunity to make a difference that is open to all people within Catterick Garrison, including military units, their dependants, civilian personnel and organisations."
Volunteers are asked to assemble at the North Park Recycling Centre in Leyburn Road in preparation for the work, which will be carried out between 10am and noon.
Soup and rolls will be available following the clean-up.
Although some tools will be provided, visitors are advised to bring gloves, boots, spades, rakes, forks, shears and saws if they can.
