A RACECOURSE has hosted a competition with a difference - one on two wheels instead of four hooves.
Competitors took part in Segway races at Thirsk Racecourse, in North Yorkshire, on Monday evening.
The races were held between representatives of attractions and accommodation from James Herriot country, which were recently grouped under the banner of Yorkshire’s Herriot Country Attractions.
Participants raced the personal transport devices around the track, in races started by clerk of the course Christopher Tetley.
First prize, of an hour-long quad bike session, was won by Sally Billany, of Fern Cottage, in Thirsk.
Ian Ashton, chairman of the Herriot Country Attractions group, said the event had been "thoroughly enjoyable".
