A UNIVERSITY is looking for people to come for screen tests as part of a plan to expand its actors database.

York St John University has had a database of actors for 18 months which is used by students and film makers to cast roles.

An open call for screen testing will take place at the university on June 4 and 5 and is available to anyone, whether amateur or professional, including accompanied children.

Actors on the database have appeared a number of films made by York St John University students, including the recent Royal Television Society award winner The Sword, a dramatic film about thwarted ambition. The screen tests take 15 minutes and aspiring actors can either prepare their own two minute piece or read from a script. Everyone will receive a free copy of the DVD and anyone who is unhappy with the footage is free to take their name off the database.

Screen tests will take place in the film and TV studios at York St John University.
