A COMMUNITY care group is launching a photographic challenge to capture ‘The True Face of Caring’.
Thirsk Community Care Association is asking members of the public to come forward with images which depict what caring means to them.
The photos gathered will be exhibited at Rural Arts at the Old Court House in Thirsk next month.
Gill Burn, Thirsk Carers Support co-ordinator said: "We’re looking for what caring means to people, whether it be care of a person, an animal, or even the environment.
"The other day Holly, a little girl who I foster and was feeding some lambs. She also helped an elderly lady who was about to fall over - so the cycle of care - from me, to her, to the lambs and the elderly lady would be really interesting if it was captured on camera."
The exhibition is part of a number of events being held by the group to celebrate National Carers Week on June 13 - 19.
Other events include a church service held at St Mary’s Church in Thirsk on June 15 and a cream tea in aid of Thirsk Carers Support held on June 17.
A photographic workshop is held on June 10 by local photographer Joe Cornish, where he will show the public how to manipulate digital images using a computer.
Reputable photographer Tessa Bunney will open ‘The True Face of Caring’ exhibition at 10.30am on June 16 and the photos will be on display until June 18.
Entrance is £3.50 including coffee and cake. For further information on the photographic challenge or any other Carers Week events contact Gill Burn or Sue Wright on 01845-523115.
