ARTISTS from across the region are being invited to submit work for an annual open exhibition.
The Summer Open Art Exhibition, held at The Station, in Richmond, has the theme ‘InVisible: seeing below the surface’.
Artists are asked to enter original works in 2D, excluding photography, before 5pm on June 3.
The exhibition, which opens to the public on Saturday July 16, will give artists the opportunity to provide their own interpretations of ‘invisibility’, including portraiture, landscape and abstract.
A total 150 finalists will be chosen for the free public exhibition, where artists will be able to sell their work.
Curator Louise Atkinson said: "I’ve a chosen a title that will provide plenty of scope for artists to respond in their own unique way to words like hidden, concealed, disguised, unseen or even obscured.
"The Station attracts over 1,000 visitors a day through the summer months, so it’s an ideal opportunity for selected artists to exhibit and sell their work."
A total of 150 finalists will be judged from an initial shortlist of 300 works.
The judges will also award prizes to three winners, including the offer of a future solo exhibition at The Station and the launch of a blog as first prize.
There will also be an overall ‘People’s Prize’ voted for by the public.
Entry for InVisible is online only and artists are able to submit up to three works for consideration. All 2D media is accepted, but not photography.
