POLICE are asking the public for help after a couple were repeatedly assaulted near a busy nightclub.
The 31-year-old man and his 26-year-old wife were approached by a group of men and women outside the Matrix club in Ripon at about 3.10am on Sunday.
The husband was forced to the ground and attacked before he managed to get away. His wife was also repeatedly punched in the head. Both suffered cuts.
Around half-an-hour later another incident occurred on Claro Road, involving the same group of people. The husband was assaulted again and suffered a head injury, which required stitches.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed either incident to come forward with information.
Detective Constable Kirsten Aldridge said: “This kind of behaviour is fairly infrequent in Ripon and will not be tolerated.
“We believe the same people may have been involved in both incidents and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed either assault.”
Anyone who can help should contact police on 0845-60-60-247. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800-555-111.
* Two men aged 21 and 23 and a 26 year-old-woman have been arrested in connection with the incidents. They are currently on police bail as enquiries continue.
