A CRICKET club is looking for girls who are interested in the sport to form its first girls team.
Richmond Cricket Club has received £700 in funding from Sports Unlimited, through Richmondshire District Council to provide an eight week coaching course for up to 22 girls.
After the coaching, the girls will be able to form an official team as part of Richmond Cricket Club.
Lynne Hickman, an ECB registered coach, who has previously worked with Yorkshire Cricket Club, will lead the coaching programme.
She said: "We have seven girls who already come and train with the boys, but this funding will allow me for the first time to widen the reach of girls cricket.
"I’ve done coaching sessions with girls at schools around the district and I’m hoping that if they enjoyed it they will come and join in."
The coaching will be held at Richmond School’s sports hall, each Tuesday from February 8, between 5.30pm and 7pm, and is aimed at girls between six and 11-years-old.
To sign up, call Mrs Hickman on 07920005746.
