VISITORS to a market town will soon be able to put their navigational skills to the test as they tour the sights.
The Tourist Information Centre in Richmond has joined forces with the Swaledale Outdoor Club and Cleveland Orienteering Klub to encourage people to use the permanent orienteering course at Round Howe Picnic Area.
The course offers a variety of options for fit and competitive runners; recreational walkers; families and children. Starting and finishing near the car park there are 12 control points to navigate in any order - using the map provided and by finding the ‘check letter’.
Course sheets are available from Richmond Tourist Information Centre – they are either free of charge or 61p if you want the chance to win a prize. On completion of the course staff at the centre will mark the sheets and offer a prize if successfully completed.
For more information on orienteering or to try other courses contact Cleveland Orienteering Klub on 01287-624521 or www.clok.org.uk or Swaledale Outdoor Club on 01642-783148 or www.swaledaleoutdoorclub.org.uk
