A PENSIONER killed in a four vehicle car crash in a historical city has been named by the police as a local woman.
Helen Margaret Holdsworth, 87, of Dishforth, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, died in the accident in Ripon.
Police appealed for witnesses to the crash which took place around 5.30pm on Thursday, January 6 on Dishforth Road, in the Sharow area of the city.
A blue Nissan Micra driven by Mrs Holdsworth heading towards Dishforth was in a collision with three vehicles heading the other way.
Mrs Holdsworth was seriously injured and she was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. An inquest into her death was opened and adjourned on Tuesday, January 11.
The police are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling along the Dishforth Road at the time and who saw the collision to contact them.
