A YOUNG chorister is to compete in St Paul’s Cathedral in the final of the BBC Radio 2 Chorister of the Year Competition.
Tom Willock, a pupil and head boy chorister at Ripon Cathedral Choir School, is to sing in London on October 29.
The youngster was selected form a large entry of choristers from cathedrals and churches across the UK.
He is one of three choristers to take part in the competition and he is being coached by choirmaster Andrew Bryden and vocal coach Matthew Lennox.
Headmaster Chris McDade said: "Tom has done extremely well to get to this stage of the competition.
"St Paul’s is a big place to fill, but Tom has a fantastic voice and we are all rooting for him on the day."
The winner of the competition will get the title BBC Chorister of the Year.
They will also get singing engagements around the country including appearances on both BBC TV and radio.
