FAMILY members joined the police in handing out leaflets trying to trace a teenager who vanished over a week ago in the region.

Bishop Burton College student Jonathan Havron, 18, of York, was last seen on Saturday, February 27, on a night out in the city.

He was last seen on CCTV footage at The Lowther pub, in Cumberland Street, between 1am and 1.35am that day.

The teenager’s mother Joanne Wigmore, and his sister, Nikita Ashby joined police on Friday, March 5, to appeal to revellers for help.

They handed out leaflets bearing his image to pub goers in Parliament Street.

Mrs Wigmore said: "I would like to thank everybody for all their help and support – it’s really appreciated."

Chief inspector Dave Hannan, who is leading the investigation, said the disappearance was out of character for Mr Havron.

He said: "We are appealing for anybody who may have been out between 8.30pm on February 27 and 2am the following day and saw Jonathan to come forward.

"The aim of the leaflets and speaking to revellers is to ask those who regularly go out between those times if they can help piece together what has happened to him.

"This is really out of character for Jonathan – he is a very stable, family-orientated, happy person with a close circle of friends, and we are very grateful to his family for being so strong and supportive."

Anybody who may have seen Jonathan or has information about his whereabouts should phone York Police on 0845-6060-247.
