THE former Canon Treasurer of St Paul’s Cathedral has become the region’s newest bishop.
The Reverend Canon Martin Clive Warner, 51, was consecrated as the new Bishop of Whitby, in succession to the Right Revd Robert Ladds.
He was presented to the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, by the Bishop of London, Dr Richard Chartres, and the Bishop of Hull, the Rt Rev Richard Frith, at a formal service in York Minster.
The Bishop of Whitby is a suffragan bishop within the Diocese of York. His particular focus of ministry is the Archdeaconry of Cleveland, which includes the area from the Tees to the Vale of Pickering.
There will be a service of welcome for the new bishop at St Hilda's Church, Whitby at 10.30am on Saturday, January 30.
