A TALENTED musical youngster has been awarded a new shield for her outstanding contribution to a junior band.
Sarah Wilson, of Sowerby, near Thirsk, is a member of the Chirons which is the junior section of the Thirsk Royal British Legion Band.
She has been given the inaugural the John and Maureen Worley Shield for her dedication to playing and her work behind the scenes.
A band spokesman said: "This is the first time that the shield has been awarded and Sarah has set a hard act for aspiring winners to follow."
