LEAGUE-topping footballers have been able to keep warm in the freezing spell thanks to the generosity of a local car dealer.
The under-tens side of Bedale Juniors currently head the Wensleydale League but with temperatures plummeting, training on a Friday night was becoming a real ordeal.
Now though they can all keep warm in personalised tracksuits after Kevin English of Northallerton-based motor traders Snigwig Ltd took pity on them.
Kevin, whose son Hugh plays for the team, said: "The boys have done really well this season. They’re unbeaten and top of the league.
"I’m impressed at their dedication in turning out for training and games and thought they deserved to be warm at least."
Team coach Barry Stewart said: "It’s very generous of Kevin to sponsor the team in this way. The boys are thrilled with the kit, not just because it keeps them warm but because it looks so professional."
